Eric’s preference for spontaneous people pictures is summed up in this portrait of one of his nieces. It won the People’s Vote at the 2001 Conwy Festival of Photography, the first time the public had been asked to vote for their favourite image in the print exhibition.

This is the Footbridge image after heavy manipulation by Rhodri Clark. The bridge was rotated and flipped horizontally. The fence was copied and enlarge to make a continuation of the train track. A steam loco and steam were imported from other images. The woman on the left of the original was rotated so that she stood up again, and her head turned upwards so that she looks at the train.
