This is one of the Carneddau ponies that roam the hills behind Penmaenmawr and Llanfairfechan. I was lucky to catch this youngster in a portrait pose.

Just occasionally the birds come to you. This Reed Warbler was actually feeding a youngster deep in some brambles but passed by me on each food-laden trip.

My favourite Welsh bird. This was taken at Nant-yr-Arian where they feed the birds every day. It is common to see over 100 Kites there and the air seems full of them when they finally come low enough to snatch the food from the ground. I’ve been a few times and always get strange looks as I wave a 500mm lens around, rattling off hundreds of photos in the half-hour before they drift off back into the mid-Wales countryside.
