Welcome to Conwy Camera Club

Conwy Camera Club is the oldest photographic society in North Wales and currently the largest. We hold weekly meetings on Tuesday evenings from September to May, and stage the Conwy Festival of Photography each September. Currently we are unable to accept new members, as our membership has reached 100 and we cannot accommodate any more people in the room we use for our weekly meetings.

This website contains examples of work by many of our members and is frequently updated.

Please use the index of galleries on the left, or the pictorial index on the right, to select galleries by theme. If you would like to see more of an individual photographer’s work, please click on the name beneath the picture.

The toolbar above this text will take you to feature pages including Photography Tips. The Audiovisual page includes a sample for you to download of pictures with music.

If you are planning to visit Conwy or North Wales…

You’ll find plenty of pictures of our area on this website, especially in the Conwy and North Wales galleries. Click on ‘Where to go for Pictures’ to find out where you can get good photos in our area.

If you live in Conwy or North Wales…

We hope the pictures show you what a beautiful and interesting area we live in. The website will keep you updated on club events. Please look under Now Showing in Conwy (left) for details of what we’re showing in our two galleries in Conwy this month. The News section (see toolbar above) contains information about recent matters. The Featured Photographer changes each month.

I have been a keen amateur photographer since I first purchased a Zenith E camera in the late 1970s. I took photographs of anything and everything! This camera with its various lenses and filters gave me a good grounding in the technical aspects of photography before I progressed on to what, at the time, was a very advanced Pentax ME Super.

Many years of service and several thousands of pictures later the Pentax was relegated to Second Division when I was given a Bronica EtrSi as a gift. Here was a camera which enabled me to produce large scale prints when the occasion arose and had the flexibility of interchangeable backs, allowing quick changes from colour to black and white film.

Then along came the digital age. No way was I going to jump onto the band wagon and abandon the quality of film. However, on a visit to Cambrian Photography I was shown images taken with digital cameras. I was hooked. In quick succession I bought two Fuji Fixed lens cameras and then moved up to a Nikon SLR some fifteen months ago.

From the early years of taking anything and everything I have now narrowed the field and enjoy best taking photographs of plants, animals and people.

Since I joined the Club in September last year I have enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, the constructive comments of the judges and informative and humorous talks by guest speakers.
