Conwy Camera Club is the oldest photographic society in North Wales and currently the largest. We hold weekly meetings on Tuesday evenings from September to May, and stage the Conwy Festival of Photography each September. Currently we are unable to accept new members, as our membership has reached 100 and we cannot accommodate any more people in the room we use for our weekly meetings.
This website contains examples of work by many of our members and is frequently updated.
Please use the index of galleries on the left, or the pictorial index on the right, to select galleries by theme. If you would like to see more of an individual photographer’s work, please click on the name beneath the picture.
The toolbar above this text will take you to feature pages including Photography Tips. The Audiovisual page includes a sample for you to download of pictures with music.
If you are planning to visit Conwy or North Wales…

Sylvia Jones
During my childhood in Pennsylvania I became a scrapbook photographer, using a Brownie Box Camera. Having spent most of my adult years in California, where I did a lot of backpacking in the High Sierra, and then moving to North Wales in my retirement, I have had more than ample opportunity to pursue ‘record photography’ as a hobby, while always trying to improve the quality of my pictures.
I met Peter Jones at Conwy Camera Club during a long stay in Conwy in December 2001, and after several more visits back and forth, we married in Conwy in October 2003. Photography has always been a shared interest for us, and we still enjoy going to club meetings and events together.
Through the camera club and Peter’s influence, I eventually developed the confidence to enter club competitions and have had some successes.
In 2006, before our trip to Shetland, I bought an Olympus digital compact and enjoyed being able to take many more photos and to check them before leaving the spot. A couple of months ago I moved up to a Lumix bridge camera, finding that it isn’t that much more to carry and gives better results.
Our photo albums have taken on a new look as I make A4 collage layouts to put in binders instead of individual photos in plastic sleeves. This allows for further creativity, such as including a favourite poem, or clip art, etc., but selecting, editing, and arranging the photos is time-consuming, and our albums are no longer up-to-date at all times. Sharing our photos through email with family and friends in the States, and using some on the greeting cards and bookmarks I make for charity, all adds to the pleasure we take in our photography during travels and walks in this area, and in participating in Conwy Camera Club.
